Man Charged Over Bondi Attempted Sexual Assault: Strike Force Hapgood

A man is due in court today charged over an alleged attempted sex assault in Sydney's east.

Officers attached to Eastern Suburbs Police Area Command have been told about 3.40am on Friday (17 March 2023), a woman was approached by a man who allegedly attempted to sexually assault her on Mitchell Street, Bondi.

Strike Force Hapgood was established to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Following extensive inquiries, detectives arrested a 35-year-old man during a traffic stop on Doncaster Avenue, Kensington, about 4.30pm yesterday (Saturday 18 March 2023).

The man, who is from Randwick, was taken to Waverley Police Station and charged with five offences,

• Attempted sexual assault without consent

• Sexually touch person without consent

• Stalk/intimidate intend fear physical etc harm

• Common assault, and

• Wilful and obscene exposure in/near public place/school.

The man has been refused bail to appear in Parramatta Bail court today (Sunday 19 March 2023).
