Man charged over bow and arrow threat in Blacktown

A man will appear in court today after pointing a bow and arrow at police who attended his Lalor Park home yesterday, NSW Police say.

About 1.40pm on Tuesday 20 November 2018, Police from Blacktown Police Area Command attended a home unit in Iwunda Road to speak to a man after an alleged neighbour dispute.

Police knocked on the locked fly screen door as the wooden front door was open.

Officers will allege that as they looked down the hallway of the unit, a man appeared armed with a compound bow and arrow, which was pointed directly at the officer.

The officer withdrew his firearm and sought cover behind a brick wall.

When the officer called on the man to drop the bow and arrow, he complied, and unlocked the door.

The 61-year-old man was arrested by the officers who also located a spear-gun and spear, near to the front door.

The bow and arrow and spear-gun were seized by the police officers.

The man was conveyed to Blacktown Police Station where he was later charged with being armed with offensive weapon with intent to commit indictable offence.

He was refused bail and will appear at Blacktown Local Court today (Wednesday 21 November 2018).
