Man charged over domestic assault near Port Stephens, NSW

Police have charged a man over a domestic-violence related assault earlier this month near Port Stephens., NSW Police say>

About 2.30am on Sunday 5 August 2018, police will allege a 26-year-old man damaged a home in Tanilba Bay before threatening and assaulting a 40-year-old woman in front of a six-year-old girl and two four-month-old boys.

Officers from the Northern Region Domestic Violence High Risk Offender Team commenced an investigation.

Following inquiries, the man was arrested in bushland in Bateau Bay following a short foot pursuit yesterday (Friday 24 August 2018).


He was taken to Wyong Police Station where he was charged with an outstanding warrant, common assault (DV), destroy or damage property (DV), stalk/intimidate intend fear physical harm (domestic), and resist officer in execution of duty.


The man was refused bail to appear at Wyong Local Court today (Saturday 25 August 2018) where he was granted conditional bail to appear before the same court on Monday 27 August 2018.

An Apprehended Violence Order has been served.
