Man charged over fatal pedestrian crash in Chatswood

A man has been charged after an elderly pedestrian was killed in a crash at Chatswood last month, NSW Police say.

About 9.40am on Thursday 13 July 2017 a 74-year-old woman was walking across a pedestrian crossing at the intersection of Archer Street and Victoria Avenue, Chatswood, when she was hit by a Toyota Hiace van.

The woman was taken to Royal North Shore Hospital with critical head injuries and died five days later.

Officers from the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit commenced inquiries into the incident.

today, they issued the 43-year-old male driver with a Future Court Attendance Notice for dangerous driving occasioning death, negligent driving occasioning death, and failing to give way at lights to pedestrian on road.

He is due to appear before Hornsby Local Court on 5 October 2017.
