Man charged over GBH on baby at Upper Coomera, QLD

A man has been charged in relation to the alleged serious assault of a baby at Upper Coomera in July, Queensland Police say.

Detectives from the Gold Coast District Child Protection Investigation Unit arrested a man at Brisbane Airport overnight in relation to the offence after he arrived back in Queensland from Western Australia.

It is alleged that on July 20, police were notified after a four-month-old baby girl was initially transported from her Serin Street home to the Gold Coast University Hospital for treatment to serious injuries after becoming unresponsive.

She was transferred to a hospital in Brisbane where she remains with very serious brain injuries.

A 39-year-old man of no fixed place of abode has been charged with grievous bodily harm and is due to face Southport Magistrates Court today.
