Man charged over hit-and-run near Lismore, NSW

Police have charged a man after a woman was injured in an alleged hit-and-run near Lismore today, NSW Police say.

About 5am (Wednesday 26 September 2018), emergency services were called to Johnston Road, near Federation Drive, at Eltham, about 15km north-east of Lismore, following reports a pedestrian had been struck by a car.

It will be alleged the driver failed to stop and render assistance.

A 45-year-old woman was taken to Lismore Base Hospital in a stable condition.

Officers from Richmond Police District established a crime scene and commenced an investigation.

A short time later, a 35-year-old man was arrested at a property in Eltham Road, Eltham, and he was taken to Lismore Base Hospital for mandatory testing.

The man was then taken to Lismore Police Station where he was charged with negligent driving, and fail to stop and render assistance.

The man was granted conditional bail and is due to appear before Lismore Local Court on Thursday 25 October 2018.
