Man charged over malicious damage of multiple vehicles, NSW

A man has been charged over the alleged malicious damage of multiple vehicles in Sydney’s north earlier this year, NSW Police say.

Between February and June 2017, a number of vehicles were damaged within car parks of a shopping centre and university in Ryde.

The vehicles, including luxury cars, had an acid-like substance applied to them, causing substantial damage.

Police from Ryde Local Area Command have been investigating the alleged incidents.

Following inquiries, officers arrested a 53-year-old man at a home in Ryde on Friday 4 August 2017.

The man, a bus driver, was taken to Ryde Police Station where he was charged with 16 counts of malicious damage to property.

He was given strict conditional bail to appear at Burwood Local Court on 21 August 2017.
