A 47-year-old man has been charged over the alleged rape of a woman at Mudgeeraba on Sunday February 4, Queensland Police say.
Yesterday morning, a 37-year-old woman presented at the Mudgeeraba Police Station where she reported to police that she had been raped at a private residence on Amulla Court.
A short while later, police received information that a man had boarded a plane at the Gold Coast Airport that was bound for New Zealand.
Queensland Detectives then liaised with Australian Federal Police at the airport who assisted with the removal of the man from the plane.
He was subsequently arrested by Queensland Detectives.
A 47-year-old Robina man has now been charged with one count of rape.
He is scheduled to appear at the Southport Magistrates Court today.
