Man charged over Renmark break-in, SA

Riverland police have arrested a man following a break-in at Renmark overnight, according to SA Police.

Police were called to Cowra Street just after midnight on Saturday 26 May after the resident awoke to find a man inside her bedroom. The woman screamed and the man ran off. It is believed that he entered through an unlocked rear door.

As patrols attended the area, they saw a car speed away so followed it until it stopped outside a motel in the township.

The driver of the car matched a description given by the occupant with police also locating cash believed to be stolen from the home.

A 29-year-old man from New South Wales was charged with aggravated serious criminal trespass and theft. He has been refused police bail and will appear in the Berri Magistrates Court on Monday.
