Man charged over serious assault near Wagga Wagga, NSW

Police have charged a man following a serious assault near Wagga Wagga yesterday, NSW Police say.

About 9pm (Saturday 19 May 2018), police will allege two men had an argument at a property in Kywong Place, Kooringal.

During the argument, one man allegedly struck the other with metal bicycle handle bars.

A 44-year-old man suffered head and neck injuries and was taken to Wagga Wagga Base Hospital in a critical condition.

Officers from Riverina Police District attended and arrested a 64-year-old man at the scene.

He was taken to Wagga Wagga Police Station where he was charged with wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

The man was refused bail and is due to appear at Wagga Wagga Local Court today (Sunday 20 May 2018).
