Man Charged Over Serious Pedestrian Crash in Kingsford

A man has been charged after a child was allegedly struck by a vehicle in Sydney's east yesterday.

About 3.40pm (Tuesday 21 November 2023), emergency services were called to the intersection of Gardeners and Bunnerong Road at Kingsford, following reports a white Holden sedan had allegedly mounted a foot path, before pinning a 12-year-old boy between the vehicle and a tree.

The boy was released by Rescue Squad officers before he was assessed by NSW Ambulance paramedics and taken to Sydney Children's Hospital in a critical condition.

Following inquiries, the driver of sedan – a 17-year-old teenage boy – was taken to Prince of Wales Hospital for assessment under police guard.

He was released and taken to Maroubra Police Station, where he was charged with dangerous driving occasioning grievously bodily harm – drive manner dangerous, and negligent driving (occasions grievous bodily harm.

He was granted conditional bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court on Wednesday 10 January 2024.
