Man charged over Surry Hills assault, NSW

Police investigating a serious assault in Surry Hills earlier this month have charged a man in relation to the incident, NSW Police say.

About 8.40pm on Saturday 9 September 2017, a man was allegedly assaulted on Crown Street, Surry Hills.

On Sunday 10 September 2017, a 27-year-old man presented at Prince Of Wales Hospital with serious injuries.

He underwent surgery for a broken jaw and fractured eye socket.

Police attached to Surry Hills Local Area Command were notified and commenced inquiries.

Following investigations, a 24-year-old man was arrested about 7pm today, and taken to Surry Hills Police Station.

He was charged with reckless grievous bodily harm and cause grievous bodily harm with intent.

The man was refused bail to appear at Central Local Court tomorrow.
