Man charged under Strike Force Wynwood at Lightning Ridge

A man has been charged as part of an investigation into the alleged supply of prohibited drugs in the state's north west.

In February 2022, detectives attached to Central North Police District established Strike Force Wynwood to investigate the supply of prohibited drugs in the Lightning Ridge area.

About 10am yesterday (Thursday 11 August 2022), a 59-year-old man attended Lightning Ridge Police Station, where he was arrested.

Officers conducted a search of his vehicle, where they located and seized a mobile phone and substance believed to be methylamphetamine.

The man was charged with:

  • Supply prohibited drugs on an ongoing basis,
  • Knowingly deal with proceeds of crime intent to conceal,
  • Knowingly deal with proceeds of crime,
  • Deal with property proceeds of crime,
  • Organises/conducts/assists drug premises, and
  • Supply prohibited drug (x23)

He appeared at Walgett Local Court yesterday (Thursday 11 August 2022), where he was formerly refused bail to appear at the same court on Tuesday 11 October 2022.
