Man Charged With 16 Offenses After Assault, Car Theft

A man will face court today charged with 16 offences after allegedly entering multiple properties in Sydney's west, stealing a car and assaulting two police officers.

Officers attached to Mt Druitt Police Area Command were alerted to reports an unknown man was trespassing at multiple properties across Bidwill, yesterday morning (Monday 27 July 2026).

In the first incident, a man allegedly attempted to force his way into a business on Bidwill Square about 7:30am, before leaving. A staff member sustained a small cut to their head during the incident but did not require treatment.

A short time later, police were told the man allegedly entered a property on Macarthur Way, before breaking a window and assaulting a resident. The resident didn't require medical treatment.

Police will allege the man then entered four more properties located on Macarthur Way and Ludwig Square, where he damaged two windows and a fence.

The man then allegedly stole a sedan from the driveway of a home on King Square, hitting a car stopped at traffic light on Minchin Drive, Minchinbury, before driving away.

About 10:30am the same day (Monday 28 July 2026), officers saw the stolen car stopped at another set of traffic lights at the intersection of Castleright Street and Jane Street, Penrith.

Officers arrested the 28-year-old driver and took him to Nepean Hospital for mandatory testing.

While in custody, police will allege the 28-year-old man assaulted two police officers. The officers did not require medical treatment.

About 7pm (Monday 28 July 2026), the man was taken to Mount Druitt Police Station where he was charged with 16 offences,

  • Assault police officer in execution of duty without actual bodily harm (two counts)
  • Escape police custody
  • Aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence-inflict actual bodily harm
  • Common assault
  • Enter enclosed land not prescribed premises without lawful excuse (four counts)
  • Destroy or damage property (three counts)
  • Take and drive conveyance without consent of owner
  • Drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous
  • Never licensed person drive vehicle on road
  • Not give particulars to other driver

He has been refused bail to appear before Mount Druitt Local Court today (Tuesday 28 July 2026).
