Man charged with aggravated robbery of taxi driver in Nowra

A man has been arrested and charged in relation to an alleged aggravated robbery and an attempted robbery of taxi drivers in Nowra over the past few months, NSW Police say.

Police attached to the Shoalhaven Local Area Command commenced an investigation into the alleged armed robbery of a taxi driver on Coconut Drive, North Nowra, on Saturday 6 April 2016, where money was taken.

Police were also investigating an attempted armed robbery of another taxi driver on Calymea Street, Nowra Hill, about 12.30am on Wednesday 1 June 2106.

No one was injured during the incidents.

About 12.15pm yesterday,yesterday, police attended Balmoringa Avenue, North Nowra, they located a 35-year-old man sitting in the kitchen of the house.

Police approached the man and allegedly located a home-made firearm, an amount of cannabis and ammunition.

The man was arrested and taken to Nowra Police Station and charged with possess prohibited drug, possess unregistered firearm and possess ammunition without holding a licence. He was also charged with three arrest warrants for robbery whilst armed with a dangerous weapon in company, attempted armed robbery with an offensive weapon and revocation of parole.

He was refused bail to appear in Nowra Local Court today.
