Man charged with attempted murder following Hunter Valley shooting, NSW

A man will appear in court today charged over the attempted murder of another man who was shot at Muswellbrook earlier in the year, NSW Police say.

About 7pm on Friday 21 April 2017, two men began arguing at a home in Anzac Avenue, Muswellbrook.

Police have been told as the argument progressed, one of the men – aged 40 – was shot in the buttocks.

The other man – aged 37 – left the scene.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the injured man before he was taken to John Hunter Hospital.

Officers from Hunter Valley Local Area Command were notified and formed Strike Force Crystalbrook to investigate the matter.

As a result of their inquiries, about 10.30pm today a 37-year-old man was arrested in Dumeresq Street, Campbelltown.

He was taken to Campbelltown Police Station and charged with shoot with intent to murder, robbery while armed with a dangerous weapon, discharge firearm intending to cause grievous bodily harm, and an outstanding warrant.
