Man charged with attempted murder in Tamworth

A man has been charged with attempted murder following an alleged stabbing in Tamworth yesterday, NSW Police say.

Police will allege that shortly after 5pm today, a 32-year-old man attended a home on Glen Street and spoke with a 38-year-old man.

An altercation allegedly took place between the men before they both ran into Sue Crescent.

The 32-year-old man allegedly produced two knives and stabbed the older man in the chest several times.

The 38-year-old man was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance Paramedics and taken to Tamworth Base Hospital where he remains in a stable condition.

Police from Oxley Local Area Command were alerted to the incident and located the 32-year-old man in Cossa Street where he was arrested.

He was taken to Tamworth Police Station and charged with attempted murder and assault police.

The man was refused bail to appear before Tamworth Local Court today tomorrow.
