Man Charged With Child Grooming, Abuse Material

A man will face court today charged over the alleged grooming of a teenage girl and possession of child abuse material.

On Monday (21 July 2025), officers from Auburn Police Area Command commenced an investigation after reports a 13-year-old girl had been speaking to a man, not known to her, on a social media site over a three-day period during which intimate images were allegedly shared.

Following extensive inquiries, officers executed a search warrant at a home in Oran Park at 9.30am yesterday (Tuesday 22 July 2025).

The occupant, a 23-year-old man, was arrested.

During a search of the home, officers seized a number of electronic devices which are alleged to contain child abuse material.

The man was taken to Narellan Police Station and charged with four offences,

  • Procure child under 14 years for unlawful sexual activity
  • Procure child under 14 years to produce child abuse material
  • Possess child abuse material (two counts)

He was refused bail to appear at Campbelltown Local Court today (Wednesday 23 July 2025).
