Man Charged with Driving, Firearm & Drug Offences in Richmond

Police have charged a man from Richmond with several offences including driving, drug and firearms offences.

Around 10.55 pm Wednesday night, 15 February 2023, police received several reports of a vehicle driving dangerously on Sixth Avenue at New Norfolk.

Police coordinated a response and successfully spiked the white Toyota Corolla on Boyer Road at Bridgewater.

A short time later police located the vehicle abandoned in the Pontville Cemetery.

Police searched the vehicle and located ammunition and a relatively large quantity of drugs believed to be ice.

Police subsequently searched the area and located a man police will allege was the driver of the vehicle.

The 23-year-old man from Richmond has been charged with Aggravated Evade, Dangerous Driving, Stealing, Possession of a loaded firearm as well as other firearms and drug offences.

As part of the ongoing investigation following the man's arrest, police have located a number of firearms and further quantity of drugs.

The man has been remanded and will appear in the Hobart Magistrates Court this morning.
