Man charged with drug offences after attempting to enter correctional facility in Goulburn

A man has been charged after allegedly trying to bring drugs into a correctional facility in Goulburn, NSW Police say.

About 12.30pm today, a 37-year-old man in company with a 26-year-old woman and a 19-year-old woman, attended Goulburn Correctional Facility to visit an inmate.

Police were called after they tried to enter the facility and it was suspected they were in possession of prohibited substances.

Officers from Goulburn Local Area Command attended and searched the man, allegedly locating an amount of crystal methamphetamine (‘ice’) and tobacco in his possession.

A search of the 26-year-old woman also allegedly located an amount of tobacco.

Police also searched a vehicle in the car park, seizing more of the drug, as well as an amount of cash and other documents suspected of being stolen.

The 37-year-old and 26-year-old were arrested and taken to Goulburn Police Station.

The man was charged with possess prohibited drug, supply prohibited drug, goods in custody (x2), and attempt to deliver item to an inmate without authority.

He was refused bail to appear at Goulburn Local Court tomorrow.

The 26-year-old woman is expected to be issued a Future Court Attendance Notice for attempt to deliver item to an inmate without authority.
