Man charged with drug offences following pursuit in Sydney's south west

A man has been charged with drug offences following a pursuit in Sydney’s south west yesterday, NSW Police say.

About 3pm today, detectives from Liverpool Local Area Command sighted a Toyota Yaris allegedly travelling at speed along Hoxton Park Road, Lurnea.

The officers stopped the car and were speaking with the male driver when he allegedly drove off from them.

A pursuit was initiated which continued into Hoxton Park.

The driver threw a plastic bag which allegedly contained methyl amphetamine (‘ice’), cocaine and MDMA (‘ecstasy’) out of the car, before he drove into a club car park and ran from the vehicle into bushland.

The officers secured the plastic bag before chasing the man on foot to the M7 Motorway where he was seen to get into another vehicle.

Officers from neighbouring commands and the dog unit searched for the car before stopping it a short time later and arresting the man.

A 24-year-old man was taken to Liverpool Police Station where he was charged with police pursuit – not stop ("Skye’s Law") and supply prohibited drug (x3).

The man was refused bail to appear at Liverpool Local Court tomorrow.

The man driving the other car was not involved in the incident and was released without charge.
