Man charged with firearms offences following domestic incident near Inverell, NSW

A man has been charged after an alleged domestic incident in the state’s western region, NSW Police say.

About 11am yesterday, two males were threatened with a firearm inside a house on Wood Street, Gilgai.

The two males fled the house and police were called.

During a subsequent search of the property police allegedly located a loaded pistol.

Following ongoing inquiries, a 26-year-old man was arrested at a home on Sapphire Street, Tingha, today.

He was taken to Inverell Police Station and charged with a number of offences including use unauthorised pistol, possess unauthorised pistol, not keep firearm safe, possess ammunition and intimidation.

The man was refused bail and will appear in Inverell Local Court tomorrow.

There were no injuries during the incident and police allege the incident is domestic-related.
