A man has been charged with alleged firearms offences following a motorbike stop in Port Stephens yesterday morning.
About 8am yesterday (Wednesday 6 August 2025), police stopped and spoke with a man on an allegedly unregistered motorbike on William Bailey Street, Raymond Terrace.
During a search of the man's bag, police allegedly located and seized a firearm and ammunition. The motorbike was also seized.
A 30-year-old man was arrested and taken to Raymond Terrace Police Station.
There he was charged with six offences:
- Use unregistered registrable Class A motor vehicle on road,
- Drive motor vehicle during disqualification period,
- Possess unregistered unauthorised prohibited firearm in public place,
- Possess ammunition without holding licence/permit/authority,
- Use uninsured motor vehicle on road, and
- Unlicensed for Class, Class C, R, LR or MR.
He was refused bail to appear before Bail Division Court 2 yesterday (Wednesday 6 August 2025), where he was formally refused bail to appear before Raymond Terrace Local Court on Monday 18 August 2025.
