Man charged with mid-range drink-driving following pursuit in Hawkesbury

A man will face court charged with mid-range drink-driving following a pursuit in Hawkesbury yesterday, NSW Police say.

Just after 8pm on Wednesday (18 July 2018), officers were patrolling near the intersection of Hawkesbury Valley Way and Percival Street, when they sighted a Holden Ute allegedly travelling at speed.

A pursuit was commenced when the driver allegedly failed to stop and went through Londonderry, Llandlilo and Shanes Park, where the pursuit was terminated.

A short-time later, the vehicle was located in Peter Street, Bligh Park.

Officers from Hawkesbury Police Area Command, with assistance from the Dog Unit, conducted an extensive search of the area and located two men, aged 23 and 20.

The men were arrested and taken to Windsor Police Station.

The 23-year-old man was charged with police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously, drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous, and mid-range PCA.

He was granted strict conditional bail and will appear at Windsor Local Court on Thursday 9 August 2018.

The 20-year-old man was released pending further investigations.
