Man Charged With Motor Vehicle Burglaries And Stealing, TAS

Hobart CIB have arrested and charged a 39-year-old Victorian man with 15 counts of motor vehicle burglary, 2 counts of motor vehicle stealing, and one count of computer related fraud, committed over the past week in the Hobart and Kingston areas, Tasmania Police say.

As part of the police investigation a large quantity of property suspected to have been stolen has been recovered.

"A number of these burglaries were committed when the offender entered unlocked vehicles and stole belongings which had been left unattended," said Detective Constable Martin Ritson.

"We urge all motorists to ensure they lock their vehicles and take valuable belongings with them when leaving the vehicle."

Anyone who has had property stolen from their vehicle over the past week in the Hobart and/or Kingston areas is asked to contact Hobart CIB on 6173 2603.

The man has appeared in court and was remanded in custody.
