Man charged with over 1.8 million worth of fraud, NSW

A man will face court charged with 31 fraud offences after $1.8 million dollars was allegedly stolen, NSW Police say.

In December 2016, Strike Force Garigal was established by detectives attached to Northern Beaches Local Area Command to investigate fraudulent activities.

As part of ongoing investigations, today, officers arrested a 47-year-old man in Bondi.

He was taken to Waverly Police Station and charged with:

• Dishonestly obtain financial advantage by deception x20

• Use false document to obtain financial advantage x7

• Make false document to obtain financial advantage x3

• Knowingly deal with proceeds of crime

Police will allege at court that the man was part of a fraudulent investment superannuation scheme totalling up to $1.8 million.

The man was refused bail to appear Waverly Local Court tomorrow.

Detectives attached to Strike Force Garigal continue investigations and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
