Man Charged With Traffic, Property Offenses

A man will face court today charged following an investigation into alleged traffic and property offences on the Mid North Coast earlier this month.

Between Tuesday 9 June 2026 and Friday 19 June 2026, police attached to Mid North Coast Police District investigated several traffic and property offences they believed were linked.

About 8.55pm on Tuesday 9 June 2026, police attempted to stop a vehicle on Bay Street, Port Macquarie. When the driver allegedly failed to stop as directed, a pursuit was initiated. The Pursuit was terminated a short time later due to safety concerns. Inquires commenced.

About 10.10am on Saturday 13 June 2026, items were allegedly stolen from a supermarket on Hastings River Drive. Upon being confronted in the carpark by an employee, a man allegedly drove away in a vehicle that struck the employee, a 27-year-old woman. She sustained minor injuries to her leg.

On Sunday 14 June 2026, Thursday 18 June 2026, and Friday 19 June 2026, cash was allegedly stolen from three businesses in the Port Macquarie area.

About 11.20am yesterday (Wednesday 24 June 2026), officers from the Mid North Coast Proactive Crime Team attempted to stop a man walking along Clifton Drive, Port Macquarie.

A 49-year-old man was arrested on Mayworth Street following a lengthy foot pursuit.

During a search of the man, police allegedly located and seized a set of pliers.

He was taken to Port Macquarie Police Station where he was charged with 18 offences,

  • Break and enter house etc steal value less than or equal to $60000 (three counts)
  • Attempt break and enter dwelling-house etc with intent steal (two counts)
  • Drive motor vehicle during disqualification period (two counts)
  • Commit s114 offence, having previous conviction (two counts)
  • Shoplifting value less than or equal to $2000
  • Enter inclosed land not prescribed premises without lawful excuse
  • Negligent driving (no death or grievous bodily harm)
  • Not give particulars to injured person
  • Destroy or damage property less than or equal to $2000
  • Possess housebreaking implements
  • Class C motor vehicle exceed speed greater than 30 km/h - Estimated
  • Police pursuit - not stop - drive dangerously, and
  • Breach of bail.

The man was refused bail to appear before Bail Division Court 1 today (Thursday 25 June 2026).
