A man will face court today charged with alleged firearm, knife and driving offences following an incident at Glendale yesterday.
About 2.40pm (Tuesday 28 April 2026), police were called to Frederick Street, Glendale, following reports of a crash.
At the scene, police were told a utility allegedly crashed into the rear of another vehicle, before it drove from the scene to a carpark near Clare Street, Glendale, where it crashed into a second vehicle.
No injuries have been reported.
A short time after the crash, the driver of the utility allegedly approached a man on Clare Street and threatened him with a large knife.
Police attached to Lake Macquarie Police District attended and arrested the driver, a 55-year-old man.
During a search of the man's vehicle, police allegedly located and seized a second knife and an unloaded firearm.
The man was taken to Belmont Police Station where he was charged with eight offences,
- Drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous
- Custody of knife in public place (two counts)
- Carry knife visible in public place-cause fear for safety
- Possess unauthorised prohibited firearm
- Not keep firearm safely-not pistol/prohibited firearm
- Use etc offensive weapon with intent to commit indictable offence, and
- Affray.
He was refused bail to appear before Bail Division Court 2 today (Wednesday 29 April 2026).
