A man is due to appear in court today charged over an alleged domestic violence-related assault at Redfern yesterday.
A 47-year-old woman remains in Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in a critical condition after being allegedly assaulted in a home unit on Morehead Street about 4.30pm yesterday (Saturday 17 May 2025).
Officers attached to South Sydney Police Area Command found the woman inside the unit suffering critical head injuries. She was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to hospital.
Police arrested a 30-year-old man at the scene and was taken to Mascot Police Station where he's now been charged with cause grievous bodily harm to person with intent (DV).
He's been refused bail to appear in Parramatta Local Court later today (Sunday 18 May 2025).
The man and woman are known to each other.
