Man crashes stolen Land Cruiser at Kangaroo Valley

A man has been airlifted to hospital following a crash in a stolen vehicle on the state's south coast.

About 6.30am yesterday (Wednesday 11 September 2019), a Toyota Land Cruiser was travelling south on Wattamolla Road, Kangaroo Valley.

The vehicle was carrying a quad bike on its rear tray and towing a trailer with a jet ski.

As the vehicle attempted to negotiate a left-hand bend in the road, it collided with a hay trailer, which caused the vehicle to flip and come to rest against a fence.

Members of the public came to the aid of the driver and removed the man from the vehicle.

The man was transported via helicopter to Wollongong Hospital, where he is currently under police guard.

Police allege the vehicle the man was travelling in, as well as the quad bike and jetski, were stolen from Berry earlier in the day.

The man did not sustain serious injuries as a result of the crash and is expected to make a full recovery.

The man is expected to be charged with a number of property, drug and traffic offences.

Police inquiries are continuing.
