Man dies after being hit by train - Hurlstone Park

A man has died after being hit by a train in Hurlstone Park this morning.

About 1.20am (Saturday 31 August 2019), emergency services were called to Hurlstone Park Railway Station following reports a man had been struck by a train.

The 53-year-old man alighted the train at Hurlstone Park Railway Station and begun walking along the platform. As the train began to move away from the station, it has hit the man, resulting in him falling onto the train tracks.

Officers from Burwood Police Area Command and NSW Ambulance paramedics attended.

CPR was performed on the man before he was conveyed to RPA Hospital in a critical condition. He died a short time later.

A crime scene was established and examined.

The train driver and train guard participated in mandatory testing and train services were delayed for approximately one hour.

A report will be prepared for the information of the coroner.
