Man dies after being pulled from surf - North Wollongong

A man has died in hospital after being pulled from the water at North Wollongong beach earlier today.

About 8.45am today (Saturday 12 December 2020), emergency services responded to reports that a man had collapsed after being assisted from the water by lifeguards.

NSW Ambulance Paramedics and local lifeguards performed CPR on the 48-year-old man. He was then taken from the beach to Wollongong Hospital, where he later died.

The man is yet to be formally identified. A report will be prepared for the coroner.
