Man dies after being swept into ocean - Bondi

A man has died after being swept off rocks into the ocean in Sydney's east yesterday.

About 5.30pm (Saturday 15 February 2020), a 47-year-old man and 45-year-old woman were standing on rocks at North Bondi when a large wave swept them into the water.

The woman managed to get back onto the rocks and suffered abrasions and two fractured toes. The man, however, did not emerge from the water.

A short time later, Surf Lifesavers retrieved the man from the ocean. He was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics, however he died at the scene.

Officers from Easter Suburbs Police Area Command established a crime scene and commenced an investigation.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
