Man dies after car crash, fire at Nelligen

A man has died after his car crashed and became engulfed with flames on the state's South Coast.

Shortly after 1pm (Monday 3 August 2020), officers from South Coast Police District were called to the Kings Highway at Nelligen, following reports a car was on fire on the side of the road.

On arrival, police found the sole occupant of the Mitsubishi Lancer, a 33-year-old man, deceased a short distance away from the car.

Initial inquiries suggest the car left the road and collided with several trees, before catching alight.

A crime scene was established, and inquiries commenced by local detectives.
