Man dies after car hits tree at Armidale

A man has died following a single-vehicle crash in the state's north yesterday.

About 2.30pm (Wednesday 13 November 2019), emergency services were called to Rockvale Road, Armidale, after reports a Toyota Corolla sedan has left the road and hit a tree.

The 55-year-old male driver and sole occupant died at the scene.

A grassfire was sparked by the crash and had to be extinguished by fire fighters.

Officers from New England Police District established a crime scene and commenced investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
