Man Dies After Cherry Picker Hits Bridge At Lithgow

A man has died following a crash in the state's Central West this morning.

About 8.50am today (Thursday 6 November 2025), emergency services were called to Inch Street, Lithgow, following reports of a truck crash.

Officers attached to Chifley Police District responded to find a 'cherry picker' had hit a bridge, causing it to collapse.

The driver – a 38-year-old man – managed to free himself from the cabin, but a passenger was trapped inside.

Emergency services – including NSW Ambulance paramedics, Fire and Rescue NSW and NSW Rural Fire Service – worked for hours to free the 35-year-old man, but he died at the scene.

The men were both employed with Sydney Trains, the driver has undergone mandatory testing.

Investigations are continuing and anyone with dashcam or information is urged to contact Lithgow Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
