Man dies after crash at Forbes

A man has died following a crash in the state's Central West today.

Emergency services responded to the intersection of Lachlan Valley Way and Paytens Bridge Road, at Paytens Bridge, south-east of Forbes, just after 6.15am (Wednesday 10 November 2021), after reports a Holden Colorado and a Kenworth prime mover had collided.

Members of the public stopped to assist the drivers, rendering first aid. Despite their efforts, the driver of the Holden, an 18-year-old man, died at the scene.

The truck driver, a 59-year-old man, was taken to Forbes Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. He also underwent mandatory testing.

Officers attached to Central West Police District established a crime scene, which has been forensically examined.

Lachlan Valley Way was closed between Gooloogong and Forbes and has since been reopened.

An investigation is underway into the circumstances surrounding the crash and a report will be prepared for the information of the coroner.
