Man dies after crash - Lilyfield

A man has died as a result of injuries sustained in a car crash last week in Sydney's inner west.

About 7.30pm last Sunday (26 May 2019), emergency services were called to 100 metres west of the intersection on City West Link Road and Darley Road, Lilyfield, after reports a red Volkswagen Golf hatchback and a black Volkswagen Golf sedan collided.

A 49-year-old Burwood woman, who was the driver and sole occupant of the westbound red Volkswagen hatchback, remains in a stable condition at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.

Two 21-year-old men travelling in the eastbound black Volkswagen sedan sustained serious injuries. Both were initially trapped in the wreckage. The driver, from Canley Heights, underwent emergency surgery and remains at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital (RPAH) in a stable condition.

His passenger, a Bossley Park man, was also taken RPAH in a critical condition. About 9am today (Sunday 2 June 2019), he died as a result of his injuries.

Officers from Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
