Man dies after Five Dock shooting; third man presents at hospital

Police are continuing to investigate after a man died, another was wounded, and a third man presented at hospital following a shooting in Sydney's Inner West this morning.

Emergency services were called to a unit on East Street, Five Dock, about 3.45am (Tuesday 2 April 2019), after reports of shots fired.

Officers found a 25-year-old man suffering a gunshot wound to his head, and a 24-year-old man suffering a gunshot wound to his shoulder.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated both men at the scene before taking them to hospital, where the older man later died.

The younger man remains in a stable condition.

A crime scene was established at the unit, which is being examined by specialist forensic officers.

As part of their inquiries, detectives will examine if a 28-year-old man who presented to Auburn Hospital suffering a gunshot wound to his stomach about 4am, is connected to the shooting.

Investigations are continuing and anyone who was in the area at the time or has any information that may assist police is urged to come forward.

Anyone with information that may assist Strike Force Wesson investigators is urged to contact Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000 or https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au. Information is treated in strict confidence.
