Man dies after struck by car, assaulted in Shalvey

A man has died in hospital after he was allegedly struck by a car and assaulted at Shalvey earlier this month, NSW Police say.

Just after 2pm on Saturday 16 July 2016, emergency services were called to Westward Avenue, near the intersection of Freya Crescent, where they found an unconscious 54-year-old man.

Officers from Mount Druitt Local Area Command attended and were told the man had been run over before being assaulted.

He was taken to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition; however, died yesterday today.

A 40-year-old man was charged in relation to the incident and remains before the courts.

Inquiries are continuing.
