Man dies after suspected assault, witnesses sought at Coonabarabran

Police are appealing for information from the public after a man was assaulted at the state's Central West last week.

Emergency services were called to a home on Nandi Street, Coonabarabran, about 7pm (Wednesday 12 May 2021), following reports a man had been found injured.

Officers from Orana Mid Western Police District were told a group of people had gathered at the home, when a man, aged 53, was found at the front of the house with serious injuries to his head and face.

The injured man was taken to Coonabarabran Hospital and subsequently airlifted to St George Hospital where he later died.

Police established a crime scene and Detectives from Orana Mid Western Police District and the State Crime Command Homicide Squad commenced an investigation which is ongoing.

As inquiries continue, police are appealing for anyone that may have been in the area or witnessed the incident to contact Coonabarabran Detectives or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
