Man dies in single-vehicle crash at Parkes

A man has died after the car he was driving crashed into a tree and caught fire in the state's central West this morning.

About 7.15am (Wednesday 25 December 2019), a car was travelling east along Renshaw McGirr Way, Parkes when it left the roadway, crashed into a tree and caught fire.

Emergency services attended, and the fire was extinguished.

The driver and sole occupant of the car died at the scene.

He has not been formally identified.

A crime scene was established, and investigations are underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the crash.

A brief will be prepared for then information of the Coroner.

Renshaw McGirr Way remains closed in both directions and local diversions are in place.
