Man dies, two rescued after boat capsizes in Cronulla

A man and a woman have been rescued, while another man has died, after a boat capsized south of Sydney this morning, NSW Police say.

About 9.40am (Wednesday 25 April 2018), emergency services were called to Bate Bay, Cronulla, after reports a boat had capsized.

Officers from Sutherland Police Area Command, with assistance from the Marine Area Command, PolAir, Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter and Surf Life Saving Australia, located the men in the water.

All three people were assisted to shore.

A man, aged in his 40’s, was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics, but despite their efforts, died at the scene.

A man and a woman were also treated at the scene for minor injuries.

The capsized vessel was recovered and will be forensically examined.

A crime scene has been established and a report will now be prepared for the Coroner.
