Man dies two weeks after crash near Narrabri, NSW

A man has died after a single-vehicle crash in the state’s north last month, NSW Police say.

About 4am on Friday 24 November 2017, emergency services were called to the Kamilaroi Highway, Baan Baa, 30km south of Narrabri, following reports a Nissan Maxima had left the road and hit a tree.

The vehicle was travelling north toward Wee Waa, carrying four men.

The driver, a 35-year-old man, was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics for injuries to the head and neck, while the rear driver-side passenger was treated for minor injuries and bruising. The front passenger was uninjured.

The second rear passenger was airlifted by Westpac Helicopter to John Hunter Hospital in a critical condition and died on Friday 8 December 2017.

Police from the Crash Investigation Unit commenced inquiries.

About 11am on Wednesday 13 December 2017, the driver attended Blacktown Police Station.

He was arrested and issued a Court Attendance Notice for dangerous driving occasioning death, and negligent driving occasioning death, and cause bodily harm by wilful neglect in charge of motor vehicle.

The man was granted condition bail and is due to appear at Blacktown Local Court on Friday 12 January 2018.
