Man dies when car hits tree near Mudgee

A man has died after his car hit a tree north-west of Mudgee this morning.

Emergency services were called to McDonalds Creek, about 10km from Mudgee, after the man's station wagon left the Castlereagh Highway and hit the tree about 6am (Thursday 25 April 2019).

The driver – and only occupant – died at the scene. He is yet to be formally identified.

A report will be prepared for the information of the NSW Coroner.
