Man dies when truck crashes north of Lithgow

A man died when his truck crashed north of Lithgow yesterday.

About 6am yesterday (Thursday 23 April 2020), emergency services were contacted after a motorist came across a single-vehicle crash on Glen Davis Road, 8km east of Capertee.

Officers attached to Chifley Police District attended along with Fire and Rescue NSW, and SES and Rural Fire Service volunteers.

The man was found trapped inside the Pantech truck; however, he died at the scene.

The driver, and sole occupant, is yet to be formally identified.

Initial inquiries indicate that the truck appears to have left the roadway, travelled down a six-metre embankment and hit a tree.

A crime scene was established and specialist forensic officers examined the scene.

An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash has commenced and anyone with information or dashcam footage is urged to come forward.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
