Sadly, a 79 year old man from the Tasman Peninsula has died after a drowning incident at Kettering in the state's south this evening.
Police and emergency services were called to the beach shortly about 6.20pm after reports a man had fallen in the water from a vessel.
Sadly, despite efforts from bystanders and medical assistance, the man could not be revived and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
Our thoughts are with the man's family and friends at this difficult time.
