Man escapes after being forced into vehicle at knife point at Orange

Investigations are continuing after a man was assaulted and forced into a vehicle at knife point during an aggravated break and enter in the state's Central West.

About 8pm on Sunday (22 September 2019), two men forced entry to a home on McLachlan Street at Orange where they confronted the 24-year-old male resident of the home.

The men threatened the occupant while demanding money and property, before assaulting him with a pole.

Police were told the men stole numerous items from around the house before forcing the occupant into his vehicle at knife point and driving to a nearby bank.

It is believed the man escaped from the vehicle at the intersection of Summer Street and Lords Place, and sought refuge in a vehicle being driven nearby.

The 24-year-old man attended Orange Police Station to report the incident.

Officers attached to Central West Police District established a crime scene at the McLachlan Street home and seized various items for forensic examination.

Police are appealing for the public's assistance to locate the two men who they believe may be able to assist with inquiries.

One man has been described as being of Aboriginal/ Torres Strait Islander in appearance, less than 180cm tall, around 78kg, and was last seen wearing a blue NSW rugby hooded jumper and red bandana across his face.

The second man was also described as being of Aboriginal/ Torres Strait Islander in appearance, taller and of a more solid build than the first, last seen wearing a red hooded jumper and a black banana across his face.

Investigators are appealing for anyone who noticed suspicious activity in the area around the time of the incident to contact police.
