Man extradited from UK for historical sexual offences

Crime Command Sano Taskforce detectives have charged a man following an investigation into alleged historical sexual assault offences in Victoria in the 1970s.

In conjunction with the Federal Attorney-General's Department, Victoria Police has successfully extradited the 81-year-old man from England.

He has been charged with 27 counts relating to child sexual abuse offences.

The charges relate to offences allegedly committed against six male children while he worked as a carer in Burwood between 1972 and 1974.

The Ipswich man will face Melbourne Magistrates' Court today via video link for a remand hearing.
