Man extradited from WA to face court, SA

A 29-year-old man will face court tomorrow (3 March) charged with identity theft offences after being extradited from Western Australia, according to SA Police.

The man, a French national, was arrested in Port Hedland before SA Police successfully applied for his extradition in connection with offences alleged committed since 2014 following a series of card skimmings at ATMs in SA.

The accused, who will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court tomorrow has been charged with aggravated theft of victims’ personal information and cash.

A co-accused was arrested in Western Australia in December 2016 and also extradited. He is due to appear in court again on 14 March.

Police continue to urge people to be vigilant with regard to their cash card security.

When using ATM's police urge the public to:

* Be conscious of their surroundings and persons in vicinity

* Cover or screen the ATM /keypad when conducting all transactions

* Never disclose your PIN number to anyone.

* Never allow persons to operate the ATM on your behalf or handle your card.

* Check transactions on your accounts regularly and report any suspicious transactions promptly to your bank
